What’s Your Go-To Skill for Total Grid Failure?

If the grid goes down for good, I’m relying on my radio skills first and foremost—being able to send and receive info when everything else is dark is huge. Comms keep you plugged into changing threats, locations of supplies, and who’s moving where. Curious what skill you’d lean on right out of the gate—water sourcing, bushcraft, barter? What’s your main plan for staying a step ahead while everyone else is scrambling?

For me, it’s all about water—locating, collecting, and purifying it. You can last weeks without food, but only days without water, and most people underestimate how tricky it gets if the taps run dry. Over the past year, I’ve practiced rain catchment, built a few crude filters, and even tried purifying with solar stills (not as simple as the books make out, let me tell you). Feels like a core skill that everything else branches from—gardening, for example, doesn’t matter much if you can’t irrigate.

Bartering’s another area
