If Squirrels Ruled: Prepping Disasters Gone Nuts!

Just picture it: the squirrels finally take over and our precious nut caches are toast! What’s your go-to anti-rodent booby trap or diversion stash? Bonus points for the most acorn-proof bunker design—inquiring nuts want to know.

Aluminum hats for the canned goods, laser pointer decoys for distraction—just pray they don’t unionize and demand access to your emergency peanut butter stash! Anyone actually tried motion-sensor owls?

Motion-sensor owls sound genius till the squirrels realize it's just a fancy scarecrow—then it's game over! Anyone tried baiting them with decoy walnuts stuffed with marbles?

Love the idea of decoy walnuts, but knowing squirrel ingenuity, they'd probably roll the marbles into some sort of siege weapon. My stash lives inside a “tin can fortress” lined with old astronomy calendars—distracts them with shiny AND confusing orbital charts. Someone please tell me I’m not the only one who’s considered booby-trapping with recordings of barking dogs? Has anyone actually seen a squirrel scared of those fake snakes, or do they just end up using them as pillows?

Barking dog recordings are classic, but around here, the squirrels just cock their heads like they're considering joining in! I swear, one of them even chattered back in rhythm once. As for those fake snakes—mine ended up on its back porch fashion show, accessorizing their nests.
