A second individual, who was held at the immigration facility in Dallas, lost his life due to the injuries sustained from a shooting incident that took place last week. The man, Miguel Ángel García-Hernández, passed away after being taken off life support.

García-Hernández was a 31-year-old native of Mexico. His untimely demise was confirmed by an official spokesperson. The spokesperson also mentioned that he was one of the three detainees who were shot in the incident.

Details of the Incident

Norlan Guzmán-Fuente, a 37-year-old from El Salvador who had entered the country illegally, also lost his life in the same incident. The third victim, identified as Jose Andres Bordones-Molina, hails from Venezuela. However, details regarding the severity of his injuries have not been disclosed yet.

According to local law enforcement, no officers were injured in the incident. The shooter, identified as Joshua Jahn, was found dead at the scene due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Impact on the Family

"Miguel was a good man, a loving father, and the provider for our family," García-Hernández’s wife, Stephany Gauffeny, expressed in a statement. She mentioned that the couple had recently purchased their first home, and the sudden death of Miguel has left their family devastated. "I do not know how to explain to our children that their father is gone," she added.

It was disclosed that García-Hernández and Gauffeny were expecting their fifth child, and they had recently moved into their new home.

Responses and Aftermath

An official spokesperson expressed condolences to the bereaved family, emphasizing the tragic consequences of violent behavior. The spokesperson reiterated the dedication and commitment of the immigration officials towards their duties.

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced that her government has aided García-Hernández’s mother in completing the necessary paperwork to travel to Dallas. She also revealed that Mexico has requested a thorough investigation into the incident.

When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they reportedly found an active shooter targeting the immigration officials. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was immediately informed about the situation, as per the standard protocol. This was followed by an immediate increase in security measures at immigration facilities across the country.

According to a DHS spokesperson, the processing center is expected to fully reopen soon. The spokesperson also assured that the security at immigration facilities has been increased following the incident.

So much tragedy in one incident—my heart goes out to their families. Any updates on Bordones-Molina’s condition, or have officials still not released more info?

Still no public updates I can find about Bordones-Molina’s recovery—authorities seem pretty tight-lipped. Wonder if they’re waiting for family notification or something else.

It’s frustrating not knowing more, especially with so many families affected. I imagine there are privacy rules they have to follow, but the silence just adds to the heartache. You’d think by now they’d at least share if his condition was stable or not. Why does it seem like the updates come
