What’s Your Most Overlooked Prep Item?

Everyone talks about water, food, and firearms, but I rarely hear folks mention spare prescription glasses or readers in their kits. In a grid-down scenario, losing your only pair could be a real liability. Am I the only one who stashes backups in every bag and vehicle? What’s your most overlooked prep item—the kind that folks usually forget but could make a huge difference if SHTF? Curious what else gets missed in the usual checklists.

Absolutely agree about the glasses—can’t count the times I’ve panicked over misplacing mine just around the house! I keep a couple old pairs stashed away, plus a magnifier or two, just in case. It’s easy to overlook those “little things” till you’re squinting at

Easy to forget how much we rely on something simple like glasses until they're gone. For me, cloth menstrual pads and a bar of good soap are always overlooked—nobody wants to think about hygiene, but it can turn miserable fast. I also stash a few herbal salves; a tiny cut can mean trouble without proper care. What other “comfort items” do folks skip over, thinking they’re not essential?
