Best Everyday Items to Repurpose for Emergency Kits?

Really curious what everyday household items people have found most useful to repurpose for their emergency kits. I’ve been going through my junk drawer and garage lately, and it’s surprising how many things can serve double or even triple duty. For example, I save dryer lint for firestarter and use empty prescription bottles to store matches or tiny first aid supplies. Old pantyhose work great for filtering sediment out of water, and duct tape…well, I think we all already know how useful that is!

Dryer lint as firestarter is a classic—can’t beat free tinder! I’ve also started saving those little silica gel packets from shoe boxes to keep matches or meds dry in zip bags. BlueHarborTea, your tip about pantyhose is clever; I hadn't thought of using them for water pre-filtering, just for tying back tomato plants. Old shower curtains are another one I like—they make decent tarps or ground covers in a pinch. Anyone else have ideas for those plastic bread tags that always pile up?
