Best Items to Stockpile That Most People Overlook?

Wondering what overlooked items folks are quietly stocking? I’ve noticed things like can openers, vinegar, and needle/thread aren’t talked about much, but seem essential long-term. What other less-obvious supplies do you all consider must-haves?

Can openers and vinegar are spot on—didn’t realize how easy it is to forget those till you need them. I’d add baking soda to the list, honestly. It cleans, deodorizes, puts out small grease fires, and helps with digestion. Also, extra reading glasses have become a must for me; they crack or vanish faster than I’d like. Anyone else think people skip stocking salt? It’s good for food, but also preserving, cleaning wounds, even scrubbing pots.

Absolutely, salt and baking soda are both so versatile. Ever tried using baking soda as toothpaste or deodorant in a pinch?

Absolutely agree on can openers—amazing how often they get overlooked until you need them. Vinegar’s a real multitasker too, for cleaning and food. I’d add to that list: sturdy work gloves and safety pins. Those little things can save your hands or patch up clothes in a hurry. Have you ever thought about stocking extra shoelaces? Sounds odd, but they’re handy for more than just shoes—fixing gear, bundling, even as emergency ties.
