Looking at upping my water reserves and want to avoid funky taste or algae down the line. What containers have folks had the best luck with for 5+ year storage? Any tips for keeping it safe but still drinkable?

Those blue food barrels are solid, but I’ve noticed the plastic taste too if the water sits a few years. Tried glass carboys for a while, but those are heavy and a pain to move around once full. Have you ever added vitamin C tablets? Heard they can cut some of that
Never tried vitamin C tabs but I’m curious—do they actually help with the plastic flavor, or just keep the water clearer? Might give it a shot if it works.
