Definitely going with B for this one—the old “Rule of Threes!” Makes it easy to remember in a pinch (and to quiz the grandkids with, though they groan every time). Air, shelter, water, food, in that order—nature’s own priority list. Though, I wouldn’t mind carrying three survival tools either, as long as one is a chocolate bar for morale.

Personal tip: I once tried testing the three hours without shelter part on a windy beach in November. Lasted about 15 minutes before running back to the car for my thermos and a heated seat. Mother nature is not to be messed with, folks.

Bonus challenge for anyone: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever used for shelter or warmth in a pinch? I once used a pile of raked leaves and an old rain poncho… looked ridiculous, but hey, I was cozy!

Totally with you on B—those “threes” are drilled into my brain! Once tried building a shelter out of pool noodles and a tarp at a backyard birthday party when the weather turned suddenly… looked like a circus tent crashed, but at least the kids thought it was hilarious. Ever tried using an umbrella as a windbreak? Awkward is an understatement. Anyone else accidentally invent new “survival gear” on the fly?
