Gonna have to go with A) Boiling! Unless you’re a fish, and then it’s just a very short spa day. Seriously though, I’ve boiled more pots of creek water than cups of tea—safe bet for killing the nasties. Adding salt just gives you salty germs, and last I checked, coffee filters don’t come with a superpower for zapping microbes (though wouldn’t that be handy).

Had a camping trip once where my grandkids were convinced “the water looks clean, Nana!” Five minutes into boiling, they learned patience—and
