Aid Sent to Two African Countries After Natural Disasters
In the face of natural disasters in Nigeria and the Congo, a significant religious group has stepped up to provide relief. The group, known for its commitment to service, has made generous donations to communities that have been severely impacted by these crises.
A prominent leader within the group, Isaac K. Morrison, was present at the donation ceremony in Nigeria and shared a few words. He emphasized that aiding those in need is a critical aspect of their faith.
Providing Essentials in Five States of Nigeria
The religious group donated a variety of items to five Nigerian states at the end of a summer month. These states, namely Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Plateau, and Sokoto, have recently suffered from disasters such as floods and fires.
The donations consisted of both food and non-food items. The food items included staples such as rice, beans, and noodles. Meanwhile, the non-food items encompassed essentials like soap, toilet paper, and sanitary pads.
During the donation ceremony, Mr. Morrison made a reference to a famous teaching within their faith, which states, "When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." He emphasized that their commitment to service is not for publicity or convenience, but rather, it is rooted in their unwavering belief that every individual is a precious child of God.
The donations were given to the National Council of Women Societies Nigeria at their national headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. Princess Edan D. D. Azura, the president of the organization, expressed her heartfelt gratitude. She emphasized that these donations were more than just gifts - they were lifelines that would bring immediate respite and hope to numerous women and their families across the five recipient states.
The aid is expected to benefit approximately 2,000 families, with roughly 400 families in each of the affected states being assisted.
In concluding his speech, Mr. Morrison encouraged listeners to instill the values of service in their children and inspire their communities to care. He emphasized the importance of being known for love, not material possessions. He shared, "In lifting others, we rise together. In healing wounds, we build peace. And in serving the least, we walk in the Savior’s footsteps."
Support Extended to the Republic of the Congo
Similarly, in the Congo, this religious group donated food and construction supplies to the Congolese government. This aid was intended to be distributed to families who had lost their homes in mid-June floods.
At the donation ceremony, another group leader, Thierry K. Mutombo, expressed that the donation was a heartfelt contribution from the members of the religious group. He said, "It is with joy that we participate in and support the government’s efforts because we love others as ourselves and emulate Jesus Christ’s example."
The Congo's Minister of Social Affairs, Solidarity, and Humanitarian Action, Irène Mboukou-Kimbatsa, expressed profound gratitude for the group’s donation, stating that the government has found a great partner in their relief efforts.
