DIY Solar Panels: Worth the Investment or Fancy Fad?
Been tinkering with the idea of DIY solar panels lately, trying to figure out if they'll actually save some bucks in the long haul or if they're just another shiny object meant to distract our focus from the real deal. Don't get me wrong here, sustainability ranks high on my checklist, but still, the cost and effort of installing these babies can be pretty steep.
Extra brownie points if you can shed some light on the longevity and efficiency of these homemade contraptions. I've read a few posts where folks are getting a good 7-10 years out of them, but has anyone here personally had one last beyond that? Or am I looking at the wrong kind of alternative energy source altogether?
And, if DIY solar panels are worth pursuing, what are some reliable resources or kits you recommend for a newbie like yours truly who's more familiar with bandages than wires? Any insights on this would be highly appreciated!
