A Royal Scandal: Princess in Norway Linked to Epstein

The princess of Norway is caught in a whirlwind of controversy. Records have surfaced that suggest she had a long-term relationship with the late notorious criminal, Jeffrey Epstein.

These records, which were recently made public by the justice department, are said to contain close to 1,000 mentions of the princess, known as Mette-Marit. They include an extensive trail of emails exchanged between the princess and Epstein, indicating that they maintained contact from 2011 to 2014. Mette-Marit became the princess of Norway through her marriage to the future king in 2001.

A Troubled Time for the Royal Family

These revelations couldn't have come at a worse time for the royal family. The princess's son, Marius Borg Høiby, is about to face a trial for rape. The charges against Høiby, who is Mette-Marit's son from a prior relationship, include the alleged rape of four women, assault, and drug offenses. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to 16 years. Høiby is denying the most serious allegations, including those of sexual abuse.

In a recent statement, Mette-Marit addressed her connection with Epstein, who took his own life in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex crimes against minors. She expressed regret for her association with Epstein, calling it "simply embarrassing".

Mysterious Emails Unearthed

Over the weekend, the focus shifted to the numerous emails exchanged between the princess and Epstein. These communications occurred years after Epstein had pleaded guilty to charges that included soliciting prostitution from a minor in Florida.

The emails suggest a close relationship between the two. There were instances of Mette-Marit calling Epstein "soft-hearted" and "such a sweetheart". In one instance, she referred to Epstein as "very charming" and made an odd suggestion about a potential wallpaper for her 15-year-old son's room.

There was also an exchange about Epstein being on a "wife hunt" in Paris. The princess responded by saying Paris was "good for adultery" and that "Scandis (are) better wife material". In a different email, she thanked Epstein for sending flowers when she was unwell, signing off with "Love, Mm."

The records indicate that the princess might have stayed at Epstein's residence in Palm Beach, Florida, for four days in 2013, during a time when Epstein was not present. However, it is important to note that being mentioned in these files does not necessarily mean any wrongdoing.

Acknowledging Responsibility

In her statement, the 52-year-old princess expressed her sympathy for Epstein's victims and took responsibility for not researching Epstein's background more thoroughly. She admitted to not realizing quickly enough what kind of person he was.

Interestingly, one email from 2011 has Mette-Marit telling Epstein that she had looked him up online and what she found "didn't look too good", accompanied by a smiling emoji. The specifics of what she discovered in her online search were not mentioned.

The royal palace has stated that Mette-Marit cut off written contact with Epstein in 2014, as she felt he was trying to leverage his relationship with her to influence others.

As her son's trial, set to last seven weeks, begins in Oslo, the royal couple are not expected to be present. It has been reported that Mette-Marit will be away on a private trip during this time.
