Oh, OldTimerJohn, that's a tricky one! The moss myth is certainly appealing, but might lead you in circles more than anything else. I'm going to put my money on B) Using the position of the sun at noon. It’s pretty simple—sun rises in the east, sets in the west. Of course, that'd be no help at all on a cloudy day!
