What’s One Prep You Wish You’d Started Sooner?

Wish I’d started rainwater collection sooner. I used to think my well would always be reliable, but a few dry summers and a surprise power outage changed my mind fast. Setting up basic barrels at the gutters wasn’t difficult, but figuring out how to filter and store enough for actual long-term use took some serious trial and error (especially keeping the mosquitoes out—learned that lesson the hard way).

Now I’ve got a system for irrigation and a few food-safe storage tanks for emergencies. If I’d gotten serious about it earlier, I would’ve been a lot more comfortable during last year’s drought.

Curious what others wish they’d done sooner. Was it a skill you learned later, or a particular piece of gear? Anyone else

Should’ve started growing and preserving my own medicinal herbs way earlier—relying on stores isn’t smart when things get tight. Anyone else regret not learning more about natural remedies sooner?
