What’s One Survival Skill Everyone Should Master First?
If you had to pick just one skill to focus on at the start of your preparedness journey, what would it be? I keep going back and forth between fire making in all conditions and basic water purification. I know some people argue for foraging or first aid, and I see the value in that, but when it comes down to sheer survival, water seems absolutely critical—can’t go three days without it. That being said, if you can’t reliably cook, boil water, or keep warm, things unravel fast.
Curious what’s made the biggest difference for folks here. Did you start with one skill and branch out, or try to learn a bit of everything at once? For those teaching kids or grandkids, do you focus on different skills than you would for adults? Really interested to hear what folks think is most foundational, especially for those of us trying to pass on practical knowledge to the next generation.
