What’s Your Go-To Skill for When SHTF?

When things go sideways, I always fall back on gardening and seed saving. Being able to grow even a small patch of food feels like security, especially if supply chains collapse. I’ve been practicing old-school preservation methods too—pickling, drying, root cellaring. What’s the one skill you can count on in a crisis? Is it something practical like first aid, or more bushcraft-oriented? Would love to hear what everyone is prioritizing and why.

Absolutely agree about gardening—knowing how to coax food out of the dirt is a skill that never goes out of style. For me, plant identification and foraging run a close second. If you can spot what’s edible or medicinal around you, you’re way less dependent on what you’ve stored. I’ve started experimenting with wild greens and old remedies, but preservation is where I want to get better. What food preservation method do you trust most when you don’t have reliable power?
