It’s amazing how easy it is to forget small comforts when prepping. For me, it’s always been backup eyeglasses—after one mishap during a power outage, I never go without an extra pair now. I’ve also stashed away sewing supplies; a busted backpack strap or torn clothing can be a real problem in the field. What items do you tend to overlook until you’re in the middle of a situation? Curious what things others end up needing that aren’t on most lists.

Dental floss! It’s tiny but so useful—for repairs, tying things, even just keeping teeth clean when there’s no dentist around. I always used to forget it when organizing my kits. Also, I never thought much about extra can openers until one broke on me during a blackout. Anyone else stash those little heat packs for winter emergencies?

Batteries always slip my mind until I need them, especially the odd sizes for flashlights or radios. Funny how something so basic ends up overlooked in the rush to prep everything else!
