This year, my budget prep focus has been hand-crank grain mills. After seeing store shelves go empty during the last storm, I realized how fragile our food supply can be. Picked up a decent manual mill for around $60, and now I keep backup sacks of whole wheat berries in food-grade buckets. For me, it’s about having a way to make bread or porridge if the grid goes down and the stores are out.
