If you had to pick just one skill that would make the biggest difference in an off-grid survival scenario, what would it be? For me, first aid and basic medical knowledge come to mind right away—being able to treat wounds, prevent infection, and handle illnesses when there’s no hospital around just seems
 
For me, knowing how to grow and preserve your own food tops the list—without steady nourishment, everything else gets a lot harder. How do you folks handle growing food indoors?

Growing and preserving food really is essential—no amount of gear helps if you've nothing to eat. I use south-facing windows for herbs and lettuce in winter, plus shelves with LED grow lights for things like tomatoes. Dehydrators and old-fashioned canning are lifes
 
Building shelter skills gets my vote—knowing how to make a sturdy, weatherproof structure with nothing but the materials around you is absolutely vital. You can improvise a bit with food or water, but when you’re cold and wet, everything gets harder fast. Add some old-school fire-making knowledge and you’re ahead of the game. Anyone else tried using just natural materials for a night out, no tarps or synthetics?
