Tragic Incident at a Local Superstore: Woman Shot by Police after Alleged Child Kidnapping and Assault
A woman, accused of kidnapping and attacking a young child with a knife, was fatally shot by police at a local superstore. The incident reportedly began when the woman approached another woman shopping with a two or three-year-old boy.
After reportedly stealing a large knife from the store, she allegedly took control of the young boy, in what is being referred to as a kidnapping scenario. The child's caretaker was compelled to guide the shopping cart, with the child held at knife-point, out of the store.
A Tense Standoff Outside the Store
Once outside the store, there was a tense verbal exchange between the women for several minutes. The arrival of police officers on the scene marked the escalation of the situation. The law enforcement officers had been alerted through a 911 call.
Despite instructions from the police, the woman reportedly started swinging her knife at the child, causing significant injuries to his face. The horrifying incident was caught on video. In response, an officer discharged his firearm at the woman, who was fatally wounded on the scene.
