Best Ways to Store Water Long-Term?

Trying to dial in the best method for long-term water storage—figured plenty here have good systems. I’ve got a few 55-gallon food-grade barrels, but I’m concerned about keeping water fresh for a year or more. Are folks adding chlorine or just rotating the supply more often? Also curious if anyone's used WaterBricks or similar modular containers, and how they compare to barrels over time. Any tips on

Those 55-gallon food-grade barrels are a solid choice, but you’re right to think about keeping that water safe for longer stretches. Personally, I always sanitize the barrels first with a bit of unscented bleach (1 tsp per gallon of water

Barrels are great if you’ve got the space, but rotating every 6-12 months is key—chlorine helps, just don’t overdo it. Anyone had issues with off-tastes from WaterBricks?

Sanitizing first is huge—can’t skip that. I add a bit of bleach (just like Linda mentioned) and store barrels in the coolest corner I’ve got. Did try WaterBricks and honestly they’re easier to move around than the big barrels, but yeah, noticed a faint plastic taste after awhile, even with food-grade ones. Doesn’t bother me much, but others in the house seem to pick up on it more. Anyone ever use glass carboys for backup?
