I've stuck with food-grade barrels and BPA-free jugs too, and honestly, regular rotation plus keeping them in a cool, dark spot makes a huge difference for taste. A tiny splash of unscented bleach still works just fine, but I’ve started using Aquamira tablets for some batches—less of that chemical aftertaste, in my opinion. Glass is solid for small amounts, but yeah, breakage risk is real. Taste-wise, I’ve noticed airing out water before drinking helps with plastic flavor if it’s been sitting a while.
