What’s One Skill Every Prepper Should Master First?

If you had to pick just one skill for someone new to prepping, what would you put at the very top of the list? I keep going back and forth between basic first aid and food preservation, but I wonder if there's something even more foundational people overlook. Shelter building? Water purification?

Water purification gets my vote, hands down. You can survive longer without food than clean water, and most folks underestimate how quickly safe water can run out. Even if your pantry’s full, you’re in trouble fast if your water source is contaminated. Have you ever tried purifying with just herbs or natural materials? That’s been a real eye-opener for me.
