What’s the One Prep You’d Never Skip?

If you could only maintain one prep, what would it be? For me, it’s always water filtration—can’t imagine making it through a crisis without safe water. Curious what tops everyone else’s non-negotiable list.

Hard to argue with water, but for me it’s reliable comms gear—can’t help anyone or get help myself if I’m totally in the dark. Guess we all have that one thing we’d never compromise on!

Reliable comms are definitely up there, especially for keeping in touch with loved ones or getting updates when things get chaotic. I do wonder, though, if you’ve run into any issues with batteries or signal when you’ve practiced using your gear, EchoTangoFox? In my case, I’d still pick a solid first aid kit as my non-negotiable. I just feel like even the best filter or radio won’t matter much if someone’s really hurt and there’s nothing on hand to help.

Always comes down to warmth for me—can’t tell you how many times a simple mylar blanket or way to make fire made all the difference after a storm. Water and comms are crucial, but hypothermia sets in scary fast. Just can’t skip basic shelter or heat, even if it’s low-tech. Anyone else ever run into trouble with staying warm more than anything else?
