Whats Your Most Underrated Prep Item and Why?

Slivers of beeswax rarely get mentioned, but they’re gold for waterproofing, fire starting, and salve making. What’s something simple in your kit that gets overlooked but you wouldn’t want to go without? Curious to hear what other folks stash that might not seem essential at first.

Beeswax is genius, especially for patching up little holes in boots too. Funny how folks skip over it for flashier gear—simple really does win sometimes.
 
Old cotton handkerchiefs, hands down. I’d put them above most gadgets in my kit. Sound dull, maybe, but they’re endlessly useful—filters for water if desperate, a makeshift bandage, wrap for herbs, even as a signal if you’ve got a bright one. I’ve tied up tool handles, covered seedlings in the garden, and once even patched a tear on my rucksack with a bit of needle and thread right through the cloth.
