A Survivor's Plea for Justice: Uncovering Secrets of the New Mexico Ranch
A survivor of the notorious ranch in New Mexico, known for its infamous owner's criminal activities, has broken her silence. At 52, she urges for the voices of the survivors to be heard and for the truth to be unveiled, despite the fact that the main culprits are no longer a threat.
Her call for justice is not in vain as it has spurred renewed investigations into the dark secrets of the ranch. These investigations have been prompted by recently surfaced documents, including a chilling claim that two young foreign girls lost their lives at the ranch and were secretly buried there.
New Investigations Underway
The state's Department of Justice is leading a criminal investigation, and a 'truth commission' led by the state Legislature has also been launched. The survivor has made it clear that she is ready to share her story to help bring those accountable to justice, emphasizing that it's never too late to expose those who were involved, assisted, or simply ignored the crimes committed at the ranch.
The Attorney General of New Mexico is committed to seeing the investigation through, promising to provide survivors with a safe environment to share their experiences. He assures that they will leave no stone unturned, regardless of how uncomfortable or time-consuming the process may be, with a special focus on centering the survivors' voices.
A Long History of Alleged Abuse
The ranch has a long history of alleged abuse that dates back as far as the accusations in Florida and New York. The infamous owner purchased the property in 1993 and frequently visited, often accompanied by girls or young women. He was previously convicted in Florida in 2008 for paying underage girls for sex, but a deal with prosecutors spared him from severe jail time and ended a broader federal investigation that included the New Mexico property. He was arrested again in 2019 in New York on separate charges that didn't mention the New Mexico ranch.
The Attorney General's Office in New Mexico launched its own investigation that year, but it was halted at the request of the New York prosecutors who were given the case file. The former Attorney General of New Mexico, who led the 2019 investigation, expressed disappointment over the lack of shared evidence and cooperation, calling it "a black eye in the justice system".
The current Attorney General is now seeking unredacted documents from the earlier investigation that reference the ranch. The Justice Department has expressed readiness to assist in this new investigation.
The Survivor's Story
The survivor, a native of New Mexico, first visited the ranch as a 22-year-old newly licensed massage therapist in 1999. She was originally hired to provide massages to the owner's chief accomplice, and later to the owner himself. She described the ranch as beautiful but also intimidating and isolating.
Initially, she viewed the owner and his accomplice as simply eccentric wealthy individuals with influential connections. However, her perspective changed when the massages became sexually aggressive and violent. Feeling ashamed and afraid, she kept silent while the owner's staff pressured her to continue her visits.
For two years, she endured this abuse until she was asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement. She stopped visiting the ranch, but the traumatic experiences continued to haunt her. She kept her ordeal a secret until 2019 when more survivors started coming forward. It was then that she found solace and support in five other survivors, who she refers to as her 'survivor sisters'.
She firmly believes that it's never too late for the truth to be revealed and for justice to be served. She continues to fight for herself and others who have suffered, hoping that their voices will finally be heard.
