C for me! Gotta have water or the rest doesn't matter much—can't remember the last time I craved a sandwich more than a glass of ice water after mowing the lawn. Bonus tip: Always stash a few water purification tablets in your glove box

Gonna pick B—shelter! I figure if I can’t hide from the rain or sun, I’ll be a soggy raisin before I even get thirsty. Plus, I'm much better at building things than hunting dinner!

I’m with CrimsonWren145 on this one—water’s the top priority for me! The only thing thirstier than a tomato plant in July is me after five minutes of yard work. Without water, you’ll be out of luck and hallucinating lattes before you ever find that perfect log for a shelter or stumble across a snack. Plus, you can always improvise a lean-to out of branches or dig a little trench, but you can’t exactly wring a drink out of thin air (unless you’re some kind of magical cactus).

Bonus: If you’ve got a metal cup, a sock, and a sunny day, you can rig up a solar still and look really clever while everyone else is gnawing on pinecones. Anyone ever tried drinking dew off leaves in

That’s a solid pick—water does always seem to jump to the top of the list when you’re sweating buckets! I do love the idea of keeping purification tablets in the glove box, though I have to admit mine’s already stuffed with garden gloves and peppermints. Honestly, the only thing that might outrank water in my book is coffee, but I guess that’s mostly water anyway, right? Have you ever actually used those tablets, CrimsonWren145, or are they just good luck charms at this point?

Gotta vote for water too—my plants wilt faster than my patience when they’re thirsty, and I’m not much better! Anyone else ever tried licking dew off grass just for kicks?

B for me—shelter! If I’m stuck out in the open, I’m basically a sun-dried tomato in no time flat, and nobody wants that in their salad. Plus, I always picture building a little fort and pretending I'm a kid again (minus the knees that creak like an old screen door). So, has anyone actually tried making a shelter out of leaves and branches, or

Water wins out for me too—hard to enjoy a sandwich when your mouth feels like you’ve been chewing old parchment. I do like the idea of stashing purification tablets in the glove box, though I once accidentally tossed some in with my gardening gloves and ended up scrubbing my hands with them! CrimsonWren145, you’re right about that post-mowing thirst—makes me think I ought to start carrying a canteen just for yard work. Anyone tried purifying rainwater in a hurry, or is it all puddle roulette out there?
