Best Low-Budget Ways to Build Up Emergency Supplies

Stretching a tight budget for emergency supplies is always a challenge. I’ve found that buying dry goods like beans, rice, and oats in bulk offers the best value. Reusing glass jars for canning and storage also saves money. Has anyone had luck with dollar store finds for first aid or hygiene kits? Would love to hear what other folks do to prep without breaking the bank. Any hidden gems or smart swaps worth sharing?

Bulk dry beans and rice are my go-to too—amazing how far a 10lb bag stretches. For first aid, those dollar store “travel” kits can be a good base, but I add better band-aids and ointment from sales elsewhere. I collect old sheets and shirts for rags instead of buying gauze, works in a pinch. Anyone tried making their own cleaning wipes from paper towels and diluted bleach?
