What’s One Prep You Wish You Started Sooner?

Really wish I’d started pressure canning much earlier—keeps so much more food shelf-stable than water bath alone. What’s the one prep or skill you look back on and think, “should’ve started that sooner”? Curious what others regret putting off.

Rain barrels were a game changer over here too—can’t believe how long I trusted city water without a second thought. For me, it was foraging and actually learning my local wild edible plants. All those years walking right past food growing in plain sight! Once you start noticing what’s available, it really changes how you look at your own backyard. Has anyone found a surprising wild edible they now rely on?

Funny how easy it is to overlook first aid, even for those of us with some medical background. I was the same—just a basic kit for years, then realized how much I was missing when I tried to treat even a sprained ankle for real. Upgrading to include wound care supplies and

Solar power, for sure—should’ve started with small panels and batteries years ago instead of waiting for “the perfect setup.” Anyone else regret not diving into off-grid energy sooner?
