What’s One Prep You Wish You Started Sooner?

Really wish I’d started pressure canning much earlier—keeps so much more food shelf-stable than water bath alone. What’s the one prep or skill you look back on and think, “should’ve started that sooner”? Curious what others regret putting off.

Absolutely agree about pressure canning—it took me forever to work up the nerve, and now I can’t believe I waited so long. For me, it was water collection and storage. I always assumed the city supply was reliable, but setting up rain barrels and backup filtration has given me huge peace of mind. Funny how the basics sometimes get overlooked until you realize how critical they are. Anyone else wish they’d started something simple sooner?

Rain barrels were a game changer over here too—can’t believe how long I trusted city water without a second thought. For me, it was foraging and actually learning my local wild edible plants. All those years walking right past food growing in plain sight! Once you start noticing what’s available, it really changes how you look at your own backyard. Has anyone found a surprising wild edible they now rely on?
