Best Ways to Store Water Long-Term?

Looking to up my water storage game—what’s the consensus on the safest containers for long-term storage? I’ve used food-grade barrels but curious if others use glass or stackable cubes. Any advice on keeping water fresh for several years would be really appreciated.

Food-grade barrels are a solid go-to, but I’ve noticed they can be a bit awkward if space is tight. I’ve tried glass for small batches, mostly for taste testing, but it’s heavy and risky if you’ve got grandkids running around or just limited shelf space. Stackable cubes (like the ones designed for camping or emergency kits) are handy for rotating stock, but I do wonder about plastic leaching after years in storage—especially if they’re not
