Parks' comments are in response to a significant development project known as Chatham Park. This upcoming community is expected to boost Pittsboro's population to over 60,000 in the next 20 years. The ambitious plan includes the construction of more than 22,000 homes, 22 million square feet of commercial space, and a comprehensive network of connecting roads.
The commercial space will be filled with everything from schools and clinics to retail outlets, making Chatham Park a self-contained community. Ever since the first houses in Chatham Park were put up for sale six years ago, the real estate market in Pittsboro has seen a significant surge. The average home prices have jumped from $360,000 in 2020 to roughly $550,000, and more expensive residences are expected to come up in the future.
