An Innovative AI Image-Editing Tool is Set to Revolutionize Web Search and Photo Applications

Earlier this year, an innovative image-editing tool was introduced for tech enthusiasts to experiment with. Its unique feature allowed users to modify images just by giving a verbal instruction. After a successful trial period, the image-editing tool, humorously dubbed "Nano Banana", is ready to be integrated into web search, photo applications, and digital notebooks.

Bringing the Power of AI to Image Editing

Users will soon be able to tap into the power of Nano Banana through their regular web search and photo apps. The feature works in conjunction with the search's Lens and AI Mode. Accessing the feature is straightforward. Open the application, take a picture, and you're ready to go. Once fully implemented, you'll notice a new "Create" button complete with a banana icon. Clicking on this will allow you to instruct the AI on how you want your photo modified.

Interactive Photo Editing Experience

When you initiate the editing process using Lens, the app will showcase the modified results and offer opportunities for further enhancements through the AI Mode interface. There's also an alternative way to utilize Nano Banana for those who prefer using the conversational search bot. Select the "Create image" tool, input your instruction, and create your image. You can then carry on the conversation with Nano Banana to make further changes to the image.

Revamping The Digital Notebook Experience

A few months ago, the digital notebook introduced a video overview feature. This utilizes AI to create a video summary of the content you've added to the notebook. The integration of Nano Banana into the digital notebook doesn't offer as much flexibility. Rather than inputting instructions to alter images, the digital notebook now has a fresh assortment of video styles powered by Nano Banana. These include styles like whiteboard, anime, retro print, and more. However, the original "classic" style remains an option.

Despite some limitations, the digital notebook's videos have received an interesting update. Users can now select "Brief" in addition to "Explainer," with the chance to add instructions to guide the video's direction. It's important to note that this doesn't guarantee a specific outcome as this still relies on generative AI. Nonetheless, the addition of Nano Banana should result in a more consistent style.

Next Step: Photo App Integration

The revolutionary image editor is also set to join the ranks of photo apps. However, no definitive timeline has been established. The creators call the Nano Banana model a "major upgrade" from the prior image-editing model. They added conversational editing to the photo app last month, but Nano Banana's impressive performance during its summer trials has left users eagerly awaiting its integration. The expectation is that Nano Banana will be available in the photo app in the coming weeks, making the process of conversational edits significantly smoother.
