New Feature Allows Personalization of Your Device's Interface Look

The tech giant has introduced a fresh capability that simplifies the process of adjusting the appearance of its new interface innovation. The option, which is part of the latest test update for the company's mobile and desktop operating systems, enables users to choose between a 'Clear' or 'Tinted' look for their interface.

Adapting to User Feedback

The introduction of this new feature demonstrates the company's commitment to user feedback. It continues to implement major changes while providing alternatives for users who might find these changes challenging to adapt to. This approach is similar to a previous situation where the company relocated the address bar in its web browser to the bottom of the screen. The move was initially met with mixed reactions, but an option to revert the bar to its original position was later provided.

Currently, the company is applying the same strategy with its new interface design. The new design was a significant overhaul, marking the most dramatic change since the transition from a realistic to a minimalist design back in 2013. However, such substantial changes often stir debate among users. While some users find the new design more difficult to read, others appreciate its modern look and attention to detail.

Regaining Control

In response to the mixed feedback, the company is now giving users more control over the appearance of the new interface design. The feature, which was first noticed by tech enthusiasts, is part of the latest test update for mobile devices, tablets, and desktop computers.

As per the company's statement, they received feedback from users during the test period who expressed a desire for a more opaque look for the new interface. The feature that allows users to customize the interface is now available in the latest versions of the operating systems for mobile devices, tablets, and desktops.

How to Use the Feature

To utilize this feature, users can go to the 'Display & Brightness' menu in their device's settings and select the new interface menu option. On desktop computers, the option is located under 'Appearance' in System Settings. This feature allows users to choose between 'Clear' and 'Tinted' options, with the latter increasing the opacity of interface elements, making them easier to view.

Despite some users advocating for a slider that would provide more precise control over opacity, the company has gone with a toggle that offers two defined levels of tint from which users can choose.

Effect on Developers and Future Updates

The company stated that developers who have already incorporated the new interface design into their apps will have the user's preference automatically applied. Developers can currently test this in the developer's beta version.

After selecting their preferred style, users will notice changes across various interface elements, including music playback controls, notifications on the lock screen, and within both the company’s and third-party apps.

While the beta feature is currently available for developers, it is expected to be released to the public in the coming days.
