Best Budget Preps You’ve Actually Tried and Recommend?

What are some tried-and-true budget preps you've actually used and trust? I’ve had good luck with bulk dried beans and simple homemade tinctures, but curious what else folks rely on that won’t break the bank. Looking for practical, not gimmicky, suggestions.

Bulk dried beans are a mainstay over here, too—can't beat the storage life for the price. One thing I've found surprisingly reliable is white rice in 5-gallon buckets with bay leaves tossed in. Also, old-fashioned bar soap lasts ages and works for everything from hands to scrubbing pans. Haven't dabbled much in tinctures, ChamomileCraze—do you make yours with vodka or glycerin? Always curious if the home brews really stack up to store-bought.
