Best Foods to Stockpile for Long-Term Emergencies?

When it comes to building up a solid food stockpile for long-term emergencies, I keep running into debates over what’s REALLY the best bang for your buck, and what’ll actually last (and get eaten) ten years down the line. Everybody seems to agree on rice, beans, oats, and canned goods, but I wonder if there are specific brands or types you’ve found to be more resilient or palatable after extended periods? Also, are there overlooked foods that don’t take as much water/fuel to prepare?

I’ve been adding some freeze-dried fruits and veggies for nutrition and morale, but the prices keep creeping up and I worry about the sodium content in a lot of the ready-meals. Powdered milk, honey, and peanut butter are on my list, but I’d like to expand past the usual suspects.

Has anyone had good luck with vaccum sealing things like pasta or flour for extra shelf life, or are mylar bags really worth the extra effort? Appreciate any pointers or personal experiences, especially with foods that hold up well in less-than-ideal storage conditions. Looking
