Best Home Defense Strategies for the Apocalypse?

Ever notice how the conversation typically dances around firearms when it comes to home defense strategies for an apocalyptic scenario? I'm of the mind that non-lethal methods can be just as, if not more, effective. Anyone have thoughts on using pitfalls, tripwires, or other old-school survivalist techniques? Would love to hear your insights on the best DIY strategies for making a fortress out of a homestead.

Totally agree on the non-lethal defenses, GarnetDusk. Using the landscape can be incredibly efficient—think thorny plants under windows, gravel paths for sound detection, even a simple moat could deter intruders. As for pitfalls and tripwires, I'd sure use them in an open space around the house. What
