Building up an emergency stash on a tight budget has been a real challenge lately, especially with prices creeping up at the store. I’ve focused on basics like rice, beans, and pasta, along with whatever canned goods go on sale or clearance. Dollar stores have been surprisingly useful, but I worry about the quality of some cheap items
 
Buying in bulk has stretched my dollar a bit further, especially with things like oats or dried lentils from warehouse clubs or even local co-ops. I’ve started rotating things in and out so nothing sits too long and goes bad—that’s caught me out before.
