Best Shelf-Stable Foods for Long-Term Storage?
Building up my long-term pantry and trying to focus on nutritious, shelf-stable foods that aren’t just beans and rice. I already do my own canning (green beans, tomatoes, applesauce, jams), but want to round things out, especially with protein and variety. I’ve read mixed things about freeze-dried vs. dehydrated—are freeze-dried meats really worth the higher price tag, or are there decent alternatives? Also curious about best practices for storing bulk grains—oxygen absorbers always necessary or overkill in Mylar bags?
