Best Ways to Store Water Long-Term?
Most of my water storage right now is in food-grade barrels with the original lids and spigots, cleaned and rotated every six months. I also keep a handful of smaller containers (gallon jugs, etc.) for easier handling in a pinch, but those don't seem to last as long before they start tasting off. Have tried adding a few drops of unscented bleach per gallon, as some recommend, but curious what other folks are doing to keep water fresh for a year or more.
Does anyone have experience with the commercial water preserver concentrates? Worth it compared to standard bleach? Also, how strict are you all about rotating stored water? Some say six months, others claim up to five years if sealed well and out of light
