Going with A on this one—make yourself look bigger, talk firm, and back away slow. That’s classic “don’t eat me, I taste bad” behavior, at least for most big animals with teeth! If I tried option C, the only thing zigzagging would be my lungs gasping for breath. As for B, the only thing I’d accomplish by flopping on my stomach is maybe giving a bear a nice back scratch on me.

Can’t say I’ve ever run into a mountain lion (hope to keep it that way), but my dog once tried option C when she saw a squirrel, and let’s just say, the squirrel won. OldTimerJohn, did you mean this for bears, mountain lions, or the neighbor’s chihuahua? Because my answer definitely changes
