Gotta be C—water! Last time I got stranded, my emergency snack was a sad granola bar but at least I had a full thermos. Anyone else carry weird "emergency snacks"?

Definitely picking C too—water is the VIP of survival, no doubt about it. Once tried to get by on just apples from my garden for a day, but ended up dreaming about a Niagara Falls-sized glass of water, ha! My "emergency snack"

I’m voting for C—securing water, hands down. You can skip a meal or ten and even curl up under a tree if you have to, but try going without water and you’ll be talking to tumbleweeds in no time! I always picture those old cartoons where someone’s crawling through the desert, hallucinating their way past a mirage of lemonade stands. Food’s great, but you won’t even care about a snack if you’re too dizzy to stand. Shelter’s important, but unless you’re dodging a rainstorm or snow, you’ve got a bit of time.

OldTimerJohn, any bonus points for stashing a water filter straw in your sock drawer? Asking for a friend who has absolutely not washed theirs alongside the laundry… Also, I might be the only one who thinks chocolate is a survival food group. Or is that just wishful thinking?

C for me too—no contest! You can last for DAYS without food (not that I recommend skipping dinner, mind you) and as long as it’s not snowing sideways, I’ve napped under plenty of questionable picnic tables in my time. But lose your water? Oh mercy, you’ll be seeing dancing teapots before long.

I always joke with my grandkids that if you ever see Granny eyeing a puddle with interest, it’s time to pull out the water filter straw. Those little gadgets are pure magic, even if I once tried to drink from a birdbath with one. Tasted like regret and dandelions
