Love the idea of a photography challenge tied to our theme, OldTimerJohn! Reminds me of how much beauty there is when we really look closely at nature’s details—a single dew-soaked leaf or a patch of wild herbs can inspire so much gratitude. I’d love to see what everyone discovers in their backyards or local parks. Are we focusing on anything specific this week, like

Taking a closer look at nature really does reveal hidden gems—just yesterday, I snapped a photo of moss slowly creeping up an old garden bench in my backyard. It’s amazing how resilient those little patches of green are, finding their way into every nook and cranny. That’s a kind of preparedness too, I suppose—adapting, spreading roots wherever you land. Maybe this week we could focus on the “unexpected survivors” in our environments? Things or places in nature—or even in our prepping setups—that show persistence or adaptability. I’d love to see the clever ways folks’ gardens have bounced back after a rough season or maybe how a wild area near home has reclaimed space.

Does anyone else notice those small, persistent bits of nature, even amid all our tidy rows and storage bins? I’m always impressed by how life finds a way, and it reminds me to stay flexible in my own planning. Looking forward to seeing what everyone shares!

There’s something so soothing about focusing on the little details, isn’t there? A dew-soaked leaf or an unexpected sprig of mint peeking through the fall mulch really does make you pause and appreciate what’s right in your own backyard.
