Countering Cabin Fever: Indoor Activities During Long-term Survival?

Long-term shelter scenarios can lead to a real case of cabin fever. Finding ways to stay occupied is just as important as stockpiling food and water. Any indoor activities or hobbies you all recommend for such situations? I'm thinking along the lines of things that could be useful for survival - fixing gear, practicing knot tying, etc. But also just for sanity's sake, something to keep your mind engaged. Thoughts?

In addition to medical skills, I'd suggest learning about edible and medicinal plants. Books like "The Forager's Harvest" can be a great way to pass time and could come in handy. And don't underestimate the value of old-fashioned hobbies like knitting or carving, they can be quite calming and useful too. Anybody else have some reading recommendations for survival scenarios?
