Shocking New Details Surface in Fatal Boat Incident off Cuban Coast

High-ranking officials from Cuba's Interior Ministry have shared never-before-seen information regarding a fatal boat incident off the country's northern coast. They claim that the boat, which came from Florida, fired upon troops, resulting in the deaths of four individuals.

Interestingly, these officials have revealed that the ten Cuban suspects involved in the incident had originally set out in two boats. However, when one boat failed, they transferred all their supplies to the remaining vessel and left the defunct one adrift.

Quick Connection to U.S. Authorities

The Cuban government was quick to note that as soon as they detained the suspects, they immediately got in touch with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Boat Loaded with Weapons and Ammunition

According to Cuban officials, the boat was loaded with an assortment of items, including a dozen high-powered weapons, one of which had a scope, and a large cooler packed with over 12,800 pieces of ammunition. In addition, the boat was carrying 11 pistols, heavy-duty boots, helmets fitted with cameras, and camouflage backpacks.

"We were absolutely certain that we were dealing with a terrorist action originating from a boat from the United States," stated a high-ranking officer of the Cuban Border Guard Troops.

High-Powered Gunfire and Casualties

According to the same officer, the border patrol boat, measuring 30 feet, detected an intruder on Wednesday morning. When they approached within about 600 feet to investigate, they were met with high-caliber gunfire. The ensuing action resulted in the immediate deaths of three attackers, with a fourth sustaining injuries that later proved fatal. Furthermore, the border guard commander was injured in the incident.

The officer mentioned that the speedboat was found about a mile northeast of Cayo Falcones, situated off the island's north coast.

Unexpected Resistance and Potential Charges

Another high-ranking official from the Ministry of Interior's Criminal Investigation for State Security expressed surprise at the level of resistance they encountered. He said, "We didn't anticipate it, especially with that many people and weapons."

He also pointed out that the military equipment found on the boat has been identified by the assailants. They divulged where and how they obtained it, the training they received, and who funded it.

The official further noted that they found 13 bullet holes on the border guard boat and 21 more on the suspect's vessel, indicating that a combat situation had indeed taken place.

Although the Cuban government had previously announced that a person had been apprehended on land, the same official has now stated that there is no evidence as yet to suggest that the suspects had any support network on the island.

Possible Terrorism Charges

The chief prosecutor of the directorate at the Attorney General's Office said that the six arrested individuals, all of Cuban origin, could potentially face terrorism charges. This could result in a sentence of 30 years in prison, life imprisonment or even the death penalty. However, the latter has been on hold for more than ten years.

In an unusual move, the items discovered on the boat were displayed at the headquarters of the former Cuban Institute of Radio and Television. This marked the first time that these items had been shown to the public.
