Determining the Best Off-Grid Water Purification Methods?

Been debating over the best off-grid water purification systems, and it's a toss-up between a Berkey water filter and a DIY solar still. What's got your vote and why? Need to consider cost, maintenance, and simplicity. Thoughts?
