Earthquake Kit Essentials: Whats In Yours?

Been thinking a lot lately about earthquake preparedness. My kit currently includes a first aid kit, water purification tabs, canned goods, and a crank radio. Seems pretty basic, but got me wondering if I'm missing something vital. So, what you folks got in your earthquake kits that might not be so obvious?

Couple things spring to mind that you might wanna consider adding. Firstly, a compact gardening tool; I've got one with a foldable shovel, pickax, and saw. Never know when you'll need to dig or clear debris. Also, seeds - durable types like beans or tomatoes.

You're absolutely right, ChrysanthiDream, having a compact gardening tool can be really handy in such situations. With my nursing background, I'm also a big fan of natural remedies. So, along the lines of your tool suggestion, I'd add a book or a compact guide on foraging and medicinal plants. In the worst-case scenario, or if the disaster lasts longer, it could be a legit lifesaver to know which plants are edible or have curative properties. After earthquakes, it's often the wide-ranging aftershocks that catch us off guard and infrastructure can be compromised for quite some time. So, being able to source sustenance and remedies from the environment around us can be invaluable. You never know when you might have to utilize Mother Nature's pharmacy or pantry.
