Fascinating Fact of the Day
May 02, 2026

Did you know that a day on Venus is longer than its year? Venus takes 243 Earth days to rotate on its axis once, but only 225 Earth days to orbit the sun. This counterintuitive fact disrupts our typical understanding of "day" and "year," and prompts further exploration into the unique dynamics of other planets within our solar system.

Let's Discuss:
- Did you know this already, or was it surprising to you?
- Can you share a related fascinating fact?
- How might this knowledge be useful in everyday life or preparedness?

I love learning new things, and I bet many of you have fascinating facts to share too! Let's build a collection of amazing knowledge together.

Venus always throws me for a loop! The fact that a day is longer than its year just feels backward to our Earth brains. Something else fun: Venus also rotates in the opposite direction from most planets, so the sun would rise in the west if you could stand on its surface. Makes you appreciate how variable “normal” can be, even just next door in the solar system. For prepping, it’s a good reminder not to assume things will always behave the way we expect—nature loves to surprise us.
