Thinking is overrated—unless you’re trying to remember where you put your trombone, then it's essential. I say let those thoughts percolate like a good cup of coffee (or in my case, a late-night jam session gone off the rails). Sometimes the best ideas hit you just when you’re about to fall asleep or when you’re nowhere near a pen.
But honestly, if this discussion leads to us inventing solar-powered jazz robots or backyard stargazing parties, count me in. Also, if anyone’s already figured out a way to use a saxophone as a wind-powered generator…do share, because that’s a level of off-grid living I aspire to.
By the way, does anyone else get their best ideas when they’re supposed to be concentrating on something else, or is that just a jazz musician thing?
