Aid Fleet Intercepted by Military Forces

In an unexpected development, military forces intercepted a fleet of boats that were part of a global humanitarian mission. The boats were stopped in the Mediterranean, while they were on their journey to deliver aid.

The boats were met by high-speed military vessels, which identified themselves as being from a country in the Middle East. Those on the boats were ordered to move to the front and kneel down. The military personnel were armed with semi-automatic weapons and used lasers for intimidation.

Boats Detained Mid-Journey

Out of the fleet, 22 boats were stopped by the military, while 36 managed to continue their journey towards their destination. The military is said to have surrounded the fleet in international waters, threatening violence and abduction.

The fleet appealed to governments to intervene and protect them. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the country that intercepted the boats claimed that the fleet was stopped before reaching their area. The soldiers were portrayed as dealing firmly with 'delusional attention-seeking agitators'.

Claims of Illegal Detention

A spokesperson for the humanitarian mission described the military's action as an attack on unarmed civilian boats in international waters. The spokesperson claimed that the incident took place hundreds of miles away from the country's territory and that the boats were surrounded and threatened at gunpoint.

According to the spokesperson, the incident constitute a violation of international law as the country has no jurisdiction in these waters. Boarding these boats is viewed as illegal detention, or potentially, kidnapping in the high seas.

The spokesperson urged all governments to act promptly. It was emphasized that every government has a duty to protect the more than 400 civilians on board and to uphold international law. Any silence in this critical moment was regarded as absolute complicity.

Fleet Surrounded and Communications Jammed

An activist aboard one of the boats shared how the fleet was surrounded by large military ships. Smaller inflatable boats were deployed from the larger vessels to surround the fleet. The fleet also reported being hounded by drones and receiving threats over the radio stating that they were violating international law and needed to stop.

The activist also reported that the fleet's communication channels were disrupted by the military, who played music over the radio channels in an apparent psychological warfare tactic.

Despite being in international waters and far away from their destination, the fleet was intercepted. This move was seen as truly unprecedented.

Details of the Naval Raid

Details of the naval raid were shared by anonymous military sources. According to these sources, the aim was to surprise the fleet by striking far from their destination. At the time of interception, the fleet was about 600 nautical miles away from their destination, a significant increase from previous interceptions which occurred 72 nautical miles away.

The fleet, composed of over 50 vessels carrying activists from multiple countries, had set sail from Italy towards their destination. It was reportedly the largest humanitarian aid fleet attempting to reach the area where a genocidal war has killed and injured thousands.

In a similar incident last year, about 40 boats from the same humanitarian mission were intercepted as they carried aid to the besieged area. More than 450 participants, including notable figures, were arrested. Detained and taken to the intercepting country, several of the fleet activists reported physical and psychological abuse while in custody. The arrested crew members and activists were later expelled.
